Play Runescape

RuneScape is a popular MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-playing Game) in a medieval setting. To start, all you need is to create an account. Later on in the game, you may decide to become a member (those who pay for extra features). With a paid subscription, you can build your own house, explore more areas, and level more skills.

    Go to RuneScape's home page. Click the button under "Create A Free Account" and proceed to enter your credentials for registering a character. You will have the option to choose your character's appearance and gender

    Log in and complete Unstable Foundations. Unstable Foundations will show you the basics of playing RuneScape and must be completed before you can proceed to Lumbridge castle (the respawn point for new players and many people who have died)

    Click on the option to play. This will open you up to a screen showing if you have a Bank PIN (highly recommended that you set one), your recovery questions were last set, and how many days of membership credit you have left (if you have purchased any)

    Choose a world that you want to play in. The screen is color coded by members and free worlds, tells you how many players are in each world, what activity is currently ongoing in that specific world, and what country the world server is in.

    Tips

    • Avoid Scams in RuneScape, know what scams are, and avoid them as much as possible. If you don't know the price of an object during a trade or you are skeptical, use the Grand Exchange, or just look at the bottom of the trade screen, which will tell you how much an item is worth.

  • Find the Right RuneScape Combat Type for you with the skills that are provided in the game. You can choose to level magic (a mage), ranged (a ranger/archer), or melee (a warrior), or you can do all of them as a hybrid player.
  • Understand that it could take a few months to get a decent level in a skill, depending on how much you play.

  • Remember set your recovery questions, preferably before you start playing the first time. It's more security towards your account, and RuneScape NPCs wont have to hunt you down to remind you.
  • Try to complete many quests. Some of them give you additional skill points, extra rewards, or special access to areas and shortcuts. Try to do quests around your level.
  • If you are called a bad name, or something else, report the person and put them in your ignore list, they might add you and annoy you. If this happens, you can also click on your buttons at the bottom of the screen to say "Private Friends" instead of Private Public.
  • Be sure to visit the Stronghold of Player Safety and the Stronghold of Security. Not only do you get to learn how to be safe on RuneScape, you get a few new emotes and quite a bit of money.

  • Warnings

    • People might not always be nice to new players.
    • Do not swear/cuss, or hack RuneScape in anyway. You could be banned.
    • Please read the rules thoroughly before reporting anyone. False reporting can fall under misuse of customer support and can get you banned.
    • Do not share accounts with other people, including friends, family members or people you know

    • Although RuneScape is a good game, it can become addicting and can cause social problems if played to excessive lengths, a good tip is to play the game because you are enjoying it (chatting and such WHILE you level your skills) rather than because you WANT to get a skill level, NEVER force yourself to stay on until you get a level.
    • Sometimes other players trick you and say that you can have free membership but this is fake. Don't trust them.
    • Only enter your RuneScape password on http://www.runescape.com/, or http://www.funorb.com/. Any other site may steal your RuneScape account.
    • Do not visit the Stronghold of Security without setting a bank pin and security questions. Also, be sure to have good armour and food with you.
    • Don't use the Report Abuse function to report people who are annoying, but not disruptive to the community by scamming, swearing/cussing, or soliciting.
    • Never give out any personal information to anyone, even if they are your supposed "best" friend.
    • Remember to take breaks
    • Never download software that claims to give you money or hacks, They will Always be scams, and will steal your password!
    • If you see any offensive or annoying player, use the Report Abuse button. If there is a Mod nearby, alert him/her/it.
