Runescape Money Making
There are many ways to make money in RuneScape because it’s based on the principals that dominate everyday life. Chief among these are learning a trade and then balancing that skill with supply and demand.
There are
several skills that allow players to do this within the
RuneScape world: mining, magic (or alchemy), fishing,
smithing, and even thieving.

In order to make money doing these trades, players must
first enhance their skill level in a specific area. For
example, while fishing is a skill that can restore player’s
health, players can also make money by fishing. Every time a
character reaches a certain ranking, they will be able to
fish for items that make more money. While players start out
catching shrimp and trout, once they make it to level fifty,
they can begin catching and selling lobster. Each lobster
can sell for between 100 and 200 gold. Players who are good
enough fishermen to reach level eighty can even catch sharks
and sell them for almost 1,000 gold each.
Smithing is one of the more popular ways to make money in
the RuneScape world. Although it is often a more difficult
skill to learn, it is one of the more rewarding. Like
fishing, players also need to be at level fifty for this
skill to be effective. Once players achieve that high level
of smithing, they can combine this with alchemy skills to
smith steel, and after level sixty-eight, players can even
make work with mithril.
Thievery has been a useful skill for many people in many
different cultures throughout history, and Runescape is no
different. Like most trades in the game, players need to be
at least a level fifty before they begin making any good
money. After attaining that high ranking, they can
pickpocket from guards and even paladins. While thieving is
a member’s only skill, it still comes in very handy when
players need to earn a few extra gold pieces.
While the previously listed skills contain certain trades
that players learn and work toward, being a merchant is
quite different. Instead of mastering some specific type of
work, being a merchant allows the player to buy and sell
items at a profit merely by working within RuneScape’s rules
of supply and demand. Each society has their own economic
system based on this very fundamental principal, and
RuneScape is no different. Once players are able to
understand the basic ideas of when to buy, when to sell, and
good communication, they can easily make more money.
While all of these means of making money are valid within
the RuneScape world, the most important thing is for players
to try them out and decide what works best for them. Some
players may find that fishing is something that is easy and
fun but just can’t get the hang of smithing or mining, for
example. The individuality of each player is what makes the
game’s community work so well.
